Education reform

I'll be attending the Governor and Mr. Glass's forum on education this evening. Anyone else going or wanting to talk about the plans they have to change public education in Iowa?

The attendance was very low, but when I asked at a mom's meeting on Monday, out of 30 people, I was the only one to get an invitation. That may have changed by Tuesday, because I got two phone calls that evening to attend. Anyone else get the phone invite? I thought it was a little weird.

Curious if anyone has been keeping up on Education Reform? I'm helping the Iowa PTA organize a Parent Day on the Hill, on March 20th in Room 19 of the State Capitol. It'd be a great time to talk with you representatives and give them a parents perspective on the proposed reforms. There's a lot going on.

There IS a lot going on! I've been trying to keep up by following Randy, asst. exec. dir. of the state teachers union and shane vanderhart, area blogger. as a home school mom, i'm also watching NICHE, as well as my local school board. Is West Des Moines part of the Iowa PTA?
