Four Mile Creek Sweep
Saturday, September 20th, 8:00a.m. -12:00p.m., Check-in from 8:00 – 10:00
Four Mile Community Center, 3711 Easton Blvd.
Help improve our community’s water quality by volunteering at the second annual ‘Four Mile Creek Sweep’. Flooding this summer has washed tires, debris and other trash into Four Mile Creek. Both people and wildlife use this creek and trail everyday. If water levels are low and safe enough, volunteers can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature and wildlife as they walk along or in the creek and help clean it up. We highly encourage volunteers to work in the creek because of the high volume of trash. Volunteers who do not want to be in the creek may walk along the paved trail.

This beautification project is a great opportunity as a service project for your group, business, family, troop or athletic team. Participants should bring a water bottle, work gloves and dress for the weather including wearing close-toed shoes and protective clothing that can get wet, muddy or dirty. Those wanting to cleanup trash in the stream should wear old shoes, rubber boots, or waders. Volunteers should not wear sandals.

Throughout the event, the Polk County Soil & Water Conservation District is providing information to the public at the Community Center about the importance of cleaning up the Four Mile Creek Watershed and how they can get funding to get involved. There will also be a creek-based art activity for the young and old.

To register, email parksvolunteer@dmgov.org with your name, address, city, state, zip, phone, email and if you would like to work in-stream or only on land.
